From the Moon to the Vine | Apollo Astronaut's Abiding in Christ

12/31/25

We step onto the edge of the Moon to rediscover an eternal truth spoken by Jesus:
“I am the vine, you are the branches… apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

Through the lens of the Apollo missions, from Genesis being read aloud over a watching world to communion taken on the lunar surface, we are reminded that humanity’s greatest achievements grow small in the presence of God’s glory. The farther humanity reaches into the cosmos, the clearer the invitation becomes to draw nearer to the Source of all life.

This message is not about resolutions or self-improvement. It is about connection. It is about abiding. It is about surrendering self-reliance and remaining in Christ, the True Vine.

As a new year unfolds, the most important question is not, “What will I accomplish?” but rather, “To whom will I cling?” Abiding shapes our strength, our fruitfulness, our endurance, and our peace in seasons of joy, sorrow, clarity, and uncertainty alike.

In this devotional reflection, we pause in the stillness before a new beginning. We consider astronauts who gazed outward into the heavens and were drawn inward toward God. We explore why remaining in Christ matters more than striving harder, and what it truly means to bear fruit that lasts beyond circumstances and seasons.

The invitation remains simple and unwavering:
“Abide in Me.”

This message closes in prayer, asking Christ to be our life, our strength, and our source in the year ahead.

Until next time — read your Bible, pray, and practice His presence.
May the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
