The prominent crater at the center of this image is Copernicus. Copernicus is often called the “King of Lunar Craters” because of its size, structure, and visibility. It’s located in the Eastern Oceanus Procellarum (near the Moon’s center-left from Earth’s view). It has a diameter of 58 miles and is 2.4 miles deep. When the Sun hits it at a low angle, the shadows really bring out its depth and detail.

Copernicus is one of the Moon’s most iconic craters—easily recognized by its terraced inner walls, well-defined circular rim, and central peak structure, which you can see clearly in my shot. It also sits in a relatively smoother region compared to the heavily cratered highlands around it, making it stand out even more along the terminator.
