Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun and the second-largest in our solar system. Known for its spectacular and complex ring system, it is a gas giant primarily composed of hydrogen and helium. The ringed planet is approximately 9.4 times wider than Earth. Saturn’s atmosphere Features high-speed winds up to 1,100 mph and a unique hexagon-shaped jet stream at its north pole. The rings are made of billions of chunks of water ice and rock, ranging from dust-sized to the size of mountains. The main rings are roughly 175,000 miles wide but only about 30 feet Thick. Fun Fact: Saturn is the least dense planet in the solar system; it is less dense than water and would theoretically float in a large enough bathtub.
Stars from NGC 2244 were added to this picture for effect.
